Natural Hip Pain Treatment in Charlotte
If you're experiencing hip pain, you're not alone. According to the National Institutes of Health, hip pain is very common in the U.S. If you're suffering from hip pain, physical therapy can help you, whether or not you decide to have surgery. We first examine the reasons for your pain and then recommend an appropriate course of treatment. Typically, we work with you to develop stronger muscles around the joint and also work to extend your joint's range of motion while also providing more immediate pain relief through more tactical forms of therapy, like deep tissue massage and trigger point dry needling. If you need surgery, we work with you during the process which will help to minimize your need for pain medications along your route to hip pain recovery.
Post-Hip Surgery Recovery PTArthritis, injuries, and disease can cause hip pain. Surgery may be the best option when non-surgical treatments fail to relieve your pain or improve your hip function.
Recovery from hip surgery can take several weeks or months. Physical therapy will be necessary to help you regain strength and improve your range of motion. However, most patients can return to normal activities after a full recovery. Reach out today if you want a physical therapist committed to supporting your recovery with minimal reliance on pain medication. |
Symptoms of Hip PainHip pain can make it challenging to do the things you love. Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods can be challenging. You may even have trouble sleeping due to the pain. Hip pain tends to stem from overuse or repetitive motions. In addition, the hip is a weight-bearing joint, so any activity that puts stress on the joint can lead to pain. Plus, physical conditions or diseases can contribute to hip pain, like arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis.
Don't wait to seek treatment because the sooner you start, the sooner you can return to doing the things that you love - even activities like running, walking, biking, tennis, and golfing that you maybe think are behind you - ‘the good old days.’ Not true! Of course, there may be more extreme issues with physiological causes that are harder to treat, but many people with daily pain today can resume a medication-free, active lifestyle, while drastically reducing use of pain medications - with the help of physical therapy and adjacent treatment modalities. Pin Point Physical Therapy can help you find relief from your hip pain and get back to living your life. Call us today to schedule an appointment! Reach Out Today to Learn MoreThere are several different ways that physical therapy can treat hip pain. One common approach is to use exercises and stretching to improve range of motion and flexibility to reduce the amount of pain experienced by the individual. Physical therapy may also focus on strengthening the muscles around the hip joint to provide support and stability to prevent further injury and pain. In addition, ice and heat therapies may relieve pain and swelling. Some patients may benefit from complimentary therapies targeting related body areas. For example, some patients may also need to work on the knees or ankles, or pelvic floor area.
Plus, we use deep tissue massage techniques and dry needling therapies because they help bring more immediate pain relief while you continue to work on your physical therapy program. My PCP referred me to traditional physical therapy for a very painful, shoulder with quite limited mobility. After some 7-8 weeks my mobility returned but the pain remained and my PT suggested dry needling. I had never heard of it but was having so much pain, I researched it and decided to give it a try. In walks Ginger Morrisey. Not only is she knowledgeable and professional, she really listens. This is a rarity and one I much appreciated. My situation was not a quick fix. It had gone on for awhile before I sought help. But with each session came more and more relief. My goals were her goals. There was no question about my treatment that was out of bounds. It felt as though we were working together as a team in addressing my particular issues. Ginger is attentive to your level of comfort during the procedure. She is constantly evaluating and reevaluating your issues. I found her responsive to my communications both during and after hours. I, of course, tried to remain respectful of her time, but she was available to my communications. I spent over 30 years in the healthcare field and Ginger is one of those rare instances when a skilled, medical caregiver is matched by a compassionate therapist with an awesome bedside manner. And, by the way, the dry needling treatment DOES produce positive results...especially in Ginger’s hands! Thank you so much! |

I felt 100% better after my first visit with Ginger. Pain that I had been “pushing through” was completely gone after 3 visits and I’m back to walking and moving in comfort. I really appreciate Ginger’s common sense approach to treatment and home exercises. Now I can’t wait to use my YMCA membership! |
